We often use our Global Financial Centres Index questionnaire to conduct small pieces of research of financial professionals’ opinions on topical issues. We recently asked “On a scale of 1 to 10, how significant will Mutual Distributed Ledgers (aka blockchain technology) be for finance (where say, “the ATM” = 3, “the computer” = 5, “the internet” = 7)”. We had 350 responses of which 200 scored the importance as seven or higher and the overall mean score was 6.6 - almost as high as the internet.
