Background: Milan will be the first centre to feature in our 2024 "Focus On" series, where we look at key business and financial centres from around the world. In this webinar:

Alessandra Perrazzelli, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Italy, will consider the strengths that have resulted in Milan becoming a leading European Centre, with focus on the financial sector. Alessandra will also introduce the approach of Bank of Italy to financial innovation and the role of Milano Hub.

Alessandra Perrazzelli is Deputy Governor of the Bank of Italy and Member of the Supervisory Board of the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM) of the European Central Bank. Since 2021, she has been a Member of the Board of Directors of the Bambino Gesù children’s hospital in Rome and a Visiting Professor at the Polytechnic University of Milan. Alessandra was the Country Manager for Italy of Barclays Bank and on the Boards of Directors of Monte Titoli SpA, A2A and ATM (Azienda Trasporti Milanese). She was also Head of International Regulatory & Antitrust Affairs in Intesa Sanpaolo and CEO of Intesa Sanpaolo Eurodesk. Her earlier career was as a lawyer at leading law firms in New York and Brussels, specializing in the fields of banking law, financial services and public utilities.

She is a Member of the New York State Bar and Founder of Valore D, an association that aims to help propel talented women to corporate management roles. She has received widespread recognition and awards for her work on diversity and inclusion, and for the promotion of technological innovation in the financial industry. She has an honours law degree from the University of Genoa and Master of Laws from the New York University School of Law as well as being an alumna of the University of Stanford Business School since 2018. Knight in the Order of the Merit of the Italian Republic.
