  Prof. Fan Gang is President of China Development Institute (CDI) in Shenzhen, China, Director of National Economic Research Institute (NERI) and Chairman of China Reform Foundation in Beijing, China. He is Professor of Economics at Peking University (PHBS) and at the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). He is a guest professor at a number of universities and graduate schools. He served as an independent member of the Monetary Policy Committee of China’s Central Bank from 2006 to 2010, and again since 2015, and is an advisor to various departments of the Chinese central government and provincial governments. He served as an economic consultant to various international organizations and played leading roles in research projects commissioned by the World Bank, ADB, UNDP, OECD, etc. His publications include over 100 academic papers published in Chinese and English academic journals and 12 books on macroeconomics and economics of transition. He received Doctor Honoris Causa degrees (Honorary Doctorates) from the University of Auvergne (France) and the Royal Roads University (Canada), in 2004 and 2011 respectively, and was listed as one of the “World’s Top 100 Public Intellectuals” jointly by Foreign Policy and Prospect in 2005 and 2008 consecutively, and one of “100 Global Thinkers” by Foreign Policy in 2010. He received his Ph.D. in economics from the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in 1988.

  Prior to Z/Yen, Mike was a civil servant for almost 20 years, mostly within the field of education policy. He was a Director and then Chief Executive of the General Social Care Council, establishing the regulation of social workers in England. He is Chief Executive of Z/Yen and leads its work on the performance of financial and commercial centres across the world, acting as lead author for the Global Financial Centres Index, the Global Green Finance Index, and the Smart Centres Index. Mike’s work with Z/Yen includes programme management of reviews and strategy development with the Church of England, UNISON, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, and The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. He developed the Global Green Finance Index and Smart Centres Index. He has led research for a number of financial centres to help with their development strategies, and research on the Future of Financial Centres in partnership with Dubai International Financial Centre and the World Alliance of International Financial Centers. Mike regularly speaks on the development of international financial centres at conferences and events both in the UK and overseas. Mike has contributed articles to the IFC Review, Businesslife, Energy Post EU, and the Securities & Investment Review.

  Kerry Brown is Professor of Chinese Studies and Director of the Lau China Institute at King’s College, London. He is an adjunct of the Australia New Zealand School of Government in Melbourne, and the co-editor of the Journal of Current Chinese Affairs, run from the German Institute for Global Affairs in Hamburg. He is President of the Kent Archaeological Society and an Affiliate of the Mongolia and Inner Asia Studies Unit at Cambridge University. From 2012 to 2015 he was Professor of Chinese Politics and Director of the China Studies Centre at the University of Sydney, Australia. Prior to this he worked at Chatham House from 2006 to 2012, as Senior Fellow and then Head of the Asia Programme. From 1998 to 2005 he worked at the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office, as First Secretary at the British Embassy in Beijing, and then as Head of the Indonesia, Philippine and East Timor Section. He lived in the Inner Mongolia region of China from 1994 to 1996. He has a Master of Arts from Cambridge University, a Post Graduate Diploma in Mandarin Chinese (Distinction) from Thames Valley University, London, and a Ph D in Chinese politics and language from Leeds University. Professor Brown directed the Europe China Research and Advice Network (ECRAN) giving policy advice to the European External Action Service between 2011 and 2014. He is the author of almost 20 books on modern Chinese politics, and has written for every major international news outlet, and been interviewed by every major news channel on issues relating to contemporary China.

  Ms Huo is the Managing Director, Head of International Business and Head of Investment Institute at Ninety One plc, an asset management business which is dual-listed on the London Stock Exchange (FTSE250) and the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. Ninety One is a founder-led global investment manager. Prior to joining the firm, she spent 12 years at HSBC within its investment banking. As co-Head of Sustainable Finance within Global Banking and Markets, she was responsible for green and sustainable product innovation across financing and investment. She was also Global Head of RMB Business, where she led the overall China and RMB internationalization strategy, revenue growth, product innovation and wider strategic client execution. Ms Huo is a Visiting Fellow at Tsinghua University in Beijing. She has recently graduated from Harvard Business School and is an Alumni there. She chairs the international workstream at for City of London’s Green Finance Initiative and leads overall China engagement. She sits in the Senior Steering Group for the UK Government’s Green Finance Institute. She is also the Chair of the UK’s ESG Leadership Forum. In 2021, Ms Huo has been appointed as a Board member/trustee of both the City of London Guildhall School and its Investment Committee. Ms. Huo was recognized by Financial News as one of the 100 most Influential Women in Finance for three consecutive years and has also won the Chinese Business Leaders Award for Excellence in Banking. Ms. Huo has been awarded as a Freeman of City of London in recognition of her contribution in Finance and cross border business collaboration. Ms Huo also holds a Master of Science degree with Distinction from The Business School (formally Cass) in London, UK.
