We conducted a review of the sources of private sector investment available for investment in green infrastructure projects for a consortium of European local authorities and academic institutions taking part in an Interreg programme. This included analysis of the key political and regulatory risks associated with a range of funding sources and case studies of the application of specific funding regimes. We created a model which enabled project planners and decision-makers to identify how to shape new green infrastructure schemes to fit the requirements of the funding approach they felt most appropriate for their circumstances. The results were presented at a conference in Lille attended by representatives of the Interreg partnership, including local governments across Europe.
