Our client, a university, had developed a software modelling suite for the implementation of complex models. It used artificial intelligence logic and a visual interface to represent quickly the model components, and can then generate reliable code using a C compiler. Their original interest was in building models of ecological systems. On many year-long research modelling projects it takes 9 months to develop the model leaving just two to three months to do any useful work. This tool reversed those proportions.
