Launch Of Global Financial Centres Index 25, Dubai
GFCI Launch - Dubai

GFCI 25 was launched as part of the Global Financial Forum in Dubai on 11 March 2019. In March 2007, Z/Yen released the first edition of the GFCI, which continues to provide evaluations of competitiveness and rankings for the major financial centres around the world. In July 2016, the China Development Institute (CDI) in Shenzhen and Z/Yen Partners in London established a strategic partnership for research into financial centres. We continue our collaboration in producing the GFCI. The GFCI is updated every March and September and receives considerable attention from the global financial community. The index serves as a valuable reference for policy and investment decisions.

We researched 112 centres for the 25th edition of the Global Financial Centres Index (GFCI 25). The number of financial centres in the main index increased from 100 to 102 with the addition of Stuttgart, Kuwait City and Nairobi from the associate centres list and the exclusion of Trinidad & Tobago which did not obtain a sufficient number of assessments. There are ten associate centres awaiting potential inclusion in the main index. GFCI 25 was compiled using 133 instrumental factors. These quantitative measures are provided by third parties including the World Bank, The Economist Intelligence Unit, the OECD, and the United Nations. The instrumental factors were combined with 29,065 financial centre assessments provided by respondents to the GFCI online questionnaire.

The Press Release for the launch is here and you can download and read the GFCI 25 report here.
