Toronto has consistently ranked highly in the Global Financial Centres Index. Naturally it features highly among North American financial centres. A key player in this development has been TMX Group, owner of the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX), one of the world’s largest stock exchanges. TSX plays a significant role in supporting innovation and access to capital. In this webinar, Jennifer Reynolds, President & CEO of Toronto Finance International and Robert Peterman, Vice-President of Global Business Development at TSX, join Professor Michael Mainelli, Executive Chair of Z/Yen, to speak about key developments in Toronto and why it shines as a Global Financial Centre.


Jennifer Reynolds is the President & CEO of Toronto Finance International (TFI), a public-private partnership whose mission is to promote and develop Toronto’s financial services sector, and to establish its prominence as a leading global financial centre.

Jennifer’s 20 year career in the financial services industry has included senior roles in investment banking, venture capital, and global risk management. Prior to joining TFI, Jennifer was the President & CEO of Women in Capital Markets (WCM), Canada’s largest industry association and advocacy group for women in the financial sector.

Jennifer is a Director on the Board of Citibank Canada, Director on the Board of the Canada Development Investment Corporation ("CDEV"), Director on the Board of Women’s College Hospital Foundation, and Director on the Board of Tourism Toronto. In 2015 and 2017, she was named a Women's Executive Network (WXN) Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Award Winner.

Jennifer is a graduate of the Harvard Business School Women's Leadership program, and she received her MBA from McGill University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Economics and Political Science from McGill University. Jennifer also holds the Institute of Corporate Directors Designation, ICD.D.

Robert Peterman is Vice-President, Global Business Development at Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX), TSX Venture Exchange (TSXV). He is responsible for domestic and international business development activities for TSX and TSXV; including South America the United Kingdom and Israel. His group covers new listings and investor development activities for TSX and TSXV. Combined, the exchanges are home to over 3,200 public issuers. During 2019 over 270 companies or ETFs went public on TSX or TSXV and $39B of capital was raised making it one of the largest exchanges in the world for raising equity capital.

Robert completed his MBA at the Richard Ivey School of Business. Prior to working at TMX, Robert worked in Corporate Strategy for a subsidiary of Brookfield Asset Management. He was a member of the Ivey Entrepreneurship Council. Currently he is also an advisor to SVX (Social Venture Exchange) a joint venture between TMX Group and MARS; and a board member for the Canadian Council for the Americas.
