As China actively pursues ecological and sustainable development, green finance serves a core function in the country’s financial ecosystem. In August 2016 the People's Bank of China (PBOC) and seven Chinese ministries issued a guidance on building a green financial system. China’s green finance landscape has grown rapidly since then. This year, green finance development has been put forth as one of the key priorities for China’s 14th Five-Year Plan over the period of 2021–25, along with China’s recent commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2060, which has set a clear direction for its economy. The webinar will discuss the progress of green finance that have been made in China and shed light on the implications of China’s green finance future agenda.
