TECHNGI - Technology Driven Next Generation Insurance - is a cross-disciplinary research project investigating the opportunities and challenges for the UK insurance industry arising from the application of new AI (artificial intelligence) technologies, including machine learning, distributed ledger, automated processing, and the explosion of available data. Led by Loughborough University, academic and industry partners are Z/Yen Group, UK Research & Innovation, University of Exeter, Queen Mary University of London, University of Reading, IBM, BGL Group, Jaguar Land Rover, Lloyd's of London, PwC, SCOR, and Willis Towers Watson. The goal is to connect academia with industry to maintain the UK Insurance sector’s leading position as the industry undergoes significant transformation. The aspiration is to resolve potential behavioural and socio-technical barriers in the ongoing adoption of AI technologies. Funded by Innovate UK and the Economic & Social Science Research Council (grant reference ES/S010416/1), TECHNGI is part of the £20mn Next Generation Services Research Challenge (twenty-one research challenges supported by the UK government’s Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund) - project website.
