Following the successful launch of our report entitled, Cyber-Catastrophe Insurance-Linked Securities On Smart Ledgers”, we arranged a follow up webinar in early December.

We conduct many webinars; all previous ones had gone smoothly with great feedback afterwards.

So off we went:

  • The Evolution Of Insurance – educational;
  • What Is A Catastrophe? – interesting topic for debate;
  • Cyber Risk – enlightening;
  • Cyber Risk & Insurance – the nub of our specific topic;
  • A Technical Solution – we just started the bit where we tell everyone about our demonstration, which polls data from large (e.g. FTSE 100) company systems, to gauge the extent to which they are online and therefore, potentially by insurance definition, not subject to cyber catastrophe…
  • …”hello?”…”you were saying?…”, “…A Technical Sol…” “hello?”…

For the first time ever, our whole building’s internet connection went down. We lost the Webinar and our ability to do anything about it, just at the point where we were going to launch into our on-line demonstration!

As our sporting friends might put it, we needed to dig deep to draw positives from this one. But we did find some:

  • we now know about cyber catastrophe from experience, not just in theory;
  • several participants wondered whether we had planned or even faked the catastrophe, to reinforce the value of the on-line tool we have developed. We hadn’t. We apologized;
  • other participants and contacts have remarked that the Cyber-Catastrophe Insurance-Linked Securities On Smart Ledgers” report and the on-line demonstration of the tool - http://cyber-cat-ils.longfinance.net/ - are so clear and self-explanatory, that they were able to get their heads around the topic without the webinar.

So we commend the report and on-line demonstration to anyone interested in insurance, technology, cyber risk or indeed anyone who is just generally interested in bright ideas. If you want further information on this topic and/or want to organize a webinar that is 99.8% likely to work, please contact james_pitcher@zyen.com
