By Sasha Davis

It is June and we’re looking forward to the start of summer here at the FS Club. Following our packed calendar of events last month, including a very sunny tour through the Secret Gardens of the City of London, this month’s events span green finance, digital innovation, and public health investment.

We kick off the month on Tuesday, 09 June 2026 with From Carbon Management To Carbon Market Mechanisms, in partnership with TWSE. This webinar explores Taiwan's journey from corporate decarbonisation to the development of robust carbon market infrastructure. On Thursday, 18 June 2026, join us for Scaling Up Digital Finance In Busan: Policy And Academia Perspective, sponsored by Busan Finance Center, examining the city's ambitions to become a leading global digital finance hub.

We close out June on Wednesday, 24th with The Next Frontier For Responsible Investment: Putting Health On The Investor Agenda, sponsored by Northeastern University London, exploring the growing case for health as a financially material issue for investors. Finally, save the date for our FS Club Summer Mixer — Resilient Capital: Steering Green Finance Through Global Headwinds, on Wednesday, 08 July 2026 in the City of London.

We look forward to welcoming you to one of our events soon.

Busan Finance Center: On May 8, 2026, HMM approved the relocation of its registered headquarters from Seoul to Busan, with plans to move the CEO’s office to the city by the end of the year. The relocation of HMM, Korea’s largest shipping company and one of the world’s leading container carriers, to Busan marks a major milestone in the city’s emergence as Korea’s maritime capital and a specialized maritime finance hub. Originally founded as Hyundai Merchant Marine, HMM operates global shipping routes across Asia, Europe, and the Americas and plays a key role in Korea’s export-driven economy and logistics network.

HMM’s relocation is expected to generate substantial economic and financial spillover effects for Busan. As the headquarters of a global shipping company moves into the city, demand is likely to increase for ship finance, maritime insurance, legal and accounting services, logistics consulting, foreign exchange, and green shipping transition financing. The presence of HMM’s management and strategic functions in Busan could further attract global investors, maritime professionals, and affiliated firms to establish operations nearby, accelerating the clustering effect between shipping, finance, and maritime services.

Northeastern University London NUL NewsLogo

Northeastern University London: Northeastern University London has been approved to deliver three new apprenticeship units focused on AI strategy, governance and oversight - and for financial services organisations, the timing couldn't be more relevant. As regulators and boards increasingly demand demonstrable AI literacy at a leadership level, these units offer a direct, funded route to close that gap quickly. Endorsed by Skills England and available through the Growth and Skills Levy, they're designed to upskill leaders fast - without the commitment of a full apprenticeship programme. If your organisation is looking to build AI capability at a senior level, we'd love to hear from you - get in touch at apprenticeships@nulondon.ac.uk.
