Using The Blockchain To Record Financial Transactions
Seminar

A number of players have recently started a consortium research project to see how they could use the blockchain for financial transactions. The consortium includes one custodian, one insurer, one commodities trading arm of a big bank and one ICT supplier, with the objective to provide a basic demonstrator of the blockchain technology and how it might work at a simple level for much of financial services. The ultimate audience for this research is the regulator, to encourage active inclusion of this technology in the new regulatory structures and thinking, with the participants all wanting to understand the technology, share the IP, and then enter into discussions with regulators or management about how they could launch their different products. How is the project progressing and what success is it having?
Simon Taylor, VP Entrepreneurial Partnerships Barclays Bank and Michael Mainelli, Chairman of Z/Yen, join us to discuss.
