Navigating Valuation Issues For Unquoted UK Companies
Webinar (invitation only)

Background: In this presentation, Graham Muir discusses navigating valuation issues for shares of unquoted UK companies. It covers determining the "market value" of shares based on tax legislation, different valuation bases like earnings, assets, share trading prices, and their precedence. Key topics include minority discounts, valuing growth shares using methodologies like intrinsic value and option pricing models, facilitating internal share markets, the difference between unrestricted and actual market values, and obtaining certainty through HMRC valuation agreements. The presentation aims to provide guidance on addressing the challenges of valuing unquoted company shares for various purposes. The presentation was debated by the panel on "Employee/Share Share Option Plans In SME Companies", at the Esop Centre’s 2024 Share Plans Symposium on 25 April.
