The disruptive banks are out there and are known. In fact, they’ve all spoken at the Financial Services Club or related events and include Fidor Bank, Moven and Simple. Interestingly, the company behind these firms is Anthemis. Anthemis invest in the disruptive new financial startups and, as well as the companies mentioned, have a portfolio that includes payments disruptors such as the Currency Cloud and investment innovators like eToro.
The founders of Anthemis are Sean Park and Udayan Goyal.
Sean Park has a proven track record of successfully investing in and advising innovative and disruptive startups and, before founding Anthemis Group, was a founding investor in innovative companies such as Betfair, The Climate Corporation (WeatherBill), Markit and an early investor in Zoopla. Sean was part of the Global Markets Management Committee at Dresdner Kleinwort where he ran a number of businesses including their groundbreaking Digital Markets initiative.
Udayan Goyal has completed over 200 deals in the Fin Tech space to date, including a number of recent flagship transactions such as Worldpay, Interswitch and Network International. He was formerly the Managing Director and Global Head of Financial Technology Advisory at Deutsche Bank AG in the Global Financial Institutions Group based in London.
