From a global perspective, Ireland has done a marvellous job of boosting trust and reputation - cornerstones of finance - after an €85 billion banking bail-out a decade back. It has been the star pupil in this field, enacting reforms at all levels with relish. But this remains a critical time for Irish financial services, with domestic public confidence and trust at low levels.
Irish banks have been proactive in setting up the Irish Banking Culture Board. The regulator has stressed the importance of trust and transparency in rebuilding confidence in the sector. How difficult is this task and how is Ireland regarded globally as a financial services hub?
