Z/Yen was founded in 1994, so now boasts an immense team of successful alumni. Supposedly, the Latin nouns alumnus and alumna mean "foster son, foster daughter, pupil" and are derived from the verb alere "to nourish", which is not too far from alea, a dice game, i.e. chance and risk/reward management.
